“We couldn’t be more pleased to have chosen John Gress to do our wedding photography. John was extremely attentive to our needs, was great with communication, flexible, and easy to work with. Most importantly, John Gress is passionate about his work, which shows in his photos. We cannot thank him enough for all his hard work, and for doing such a wonderful job at our wedding.”

“Best decision we made for our wedding – hiring a good photographer!  Thank you John Gress.  Even when planning our wedding across country, and then across continents while moving internationally, John was there for us, organized, professional and ready.  Our day went without a hitch and of course it was a blur – thankfully John was there to capture all the moments that we will now cherish and look back on!  The candid, “live” moments so expertly taken throughout the day are fantastic.  Great work for your great memories!”

“Working with John was a true pleasure. From our first meeting, he took the time to listen to what we wanted to capture on our big day. Shooting the ceremony in the domed theatre at the Adler Planetarium presented its own photographic challenges, and during the pre-wedding site check he offered some excellent ideas and solutions to get us what we wanted. Then he more than delivered, from the outdoor pictures beforehand to the ceremony itself to the action-packed reception afterwards. And he did so in an unobtrusive, highly professional way. Net, John gets a top rating — as well as profuse thanks — from my husband and me.”

“I found John online when we were looking for photographers for our July wedding. We looked at a number of different sites, but we were both really drawn to John’s work as posted on his web-site. We contacted him, via e-mail, and immediately found him to be responsive, friendly, and easy going. We set up an appointment to meet him soon after.

If you want a photographer who is going to take the standard, posed, multi-grouped wedding photos, John may not be your guy. Not that he doesn’t take photos of any groupings etc. that you request, but his real talent lies in getting beautiful candid shots throughout the event. We asked him to take a few posed, close-up photos of our ceremony (because we requested he stay behind the guests at the ceremony so as not to cause disruption), and then a few posed family groupings. After that, we just let him go on his own. He was so calm and easy going…most of the time you didn’t even know he was there. He captured all the happenings (cake cutting, toasts, first dance, etc.) but more importantly to us, he captured so many wonderful candid moments and faces of family and friends. I have beautiful shots of them that I truly can’t wait to share with them because their faces are so filled with emotion. I was also concerned that our photographer be comfortable shooting photos at a gay wedding, as I wanted them to show the real love and emotion in our relationship, and some photographers are just not yet comfortable enough to know how to do that. Not a problem with John. He has had much experience shooting gay weddings and it shows in the depth of his work.

I think you will also find that John is not a high pressure salesman after the event. He is always friendly, helpful, quick to respond, timely, makes a nice appearance, polite and accommodating. If you have viewed his work on-line, it is a true and honest representation of what to expect. He has all my respect, admiration, and appreciation for a job well done.”

“We hired John as our wedding photographer and couldn’t have been happier with the results! We met with him beforehand and he really listened to our wishes for the event without trying to make us do something he felt like doing. During the evening, he unobtrusively floated around the room and candidly caught priceless moments. His photography was unique and contemporary, which resulted in exactly the type of photos we wanted (not the type you’d find in your grandma’s photo album). Our friends and guests commented on the excellent quality of his work. Many felt the finished product was the best they had ever seen. We easily would recommend John over and over again to anyone who was interested in some truly professional photography.”
